Participants will ride a mostly single track course with numerous passing zones on the ski trail that will be similar to last year but a bit longer.  Max’s option will be run in the opposite direction this year as last year and will feature a switch back climb for all racers.  Experts/Comp and Marathon (for last portion of race) will ride a similar course but with technical spurs added in (including some new areas from last year (first 1/3 Twisted Sister)).  The course will be closed on Saturday Morning for marking but will be available on Saturday after 1pm for pre riding.  In the event of rain we plan to race but with possible modified course/distance for races as needed.  Custom granite trophy for all overall race winners Male and Female.  Laps for races are as follows (approximately 6 miles/lap):

Kids Comp ½ lap

Citizen 1 lap

Sport 2 laps

Comp 3 laps

Elite/Pro Women 3 laps

Elite/Pro Men 4 laps

Marathon top male and female will receive a custom granite trophy and special prize pack.

The event serves as the primary fund raiser for the St. Cloud trails and this year we will be giving away a Salsa Bucksaw Complete Bike, size L, from Revolution Cycle and Ski worth $4,000.00 in the raffle ($20 for a set of MMCC Jail Trail hat and ticket).  We will have food on site with all proceeds going to the trails.  Come weave the singletrack, and rock the rock gardens with us on Sunday! We look forward to seeing our friends and racers on Sunday.

Concessions will be sold at the race to benefit the trails. Brats, dogs, pop, and what ever else we decide to bring. You’ll like it!

Red Wing is steeped in Minnesota Mountain Bike history.  In 1997 Welch Village ski area held the first NORBA National race in MN.  Pro racers from all over the world converged on the little Mississippi river town.  Since that time riding and racing in and around Red Wing has always been part of the community and a great destination for cyclists of all kinds.

The Red Wing Classic has much of this rich history.  Since the late 90s racers have navigated the ski trails and single track of Memorial Park.  High up on the bluff the park offers beautiful views for riders and spectators alike.  As the 4th race of the series we start to see some of the points battles heating up.   Click Here to see where you stand in the series!

This year's course will be similar to past courses.  The RAMBO folks have been keeping the course up all year and can't wait to get the riders on the trails.  Check out the courses on the event page, click here.

Register online by June 8th at 8:00pm. Day of race registration opens at 8:00 am.  Kids Comp starts the racing at 9:00am.  Take a trip down the river to Red Wing.

Bluff Riders Charge Awards

At the Bluff Riders Charge this year overall winners received a really cool plaque made by Phil Carlson. Not only is he passionate about mountain biking, leading the Peace Coffee Team, but produces some really cool stuff from reclaiming materials that he comes across while working. Thanks Phil!

"I specialize custom, residential remodeling in the twin cities.  Many times I try to save useable things from the construction process and turn them into something beautiful. These awards we made from an old fence in Ham Lake that my client needed replaced because it was rotting and falling over.  I harvested the clear cedar planks and have made many things from them so far.  This winter we did a fundraiser with some similar woodcraft and raised over $1200 for Feed My Starving Children. Peace Coffee Racing and Mt. Kato have paired up once again to host the Bluff Riders Charge!  This event is run entirely by volunteers from the Peace Coffee Racing team and their family members  with help from MNMBS staff and series volunteers.

This will be the 7th year PRC has hosted this event.

The course starts with a nice warm-up climb to the top of the ski area. Once on top, all racers make a large traverse along the front of the ski area. The course has a good balance of climbs, descents and technical sections with switchbacks. The approximate vertical gain per lap is 500 feet. No one will be disappointed with this course!

Come out and support Bluff Riders!
This year all proceeds for this event are going to support
the local cycling community!

Newton's Third Law is wrong: Although it states that for each action, there is an equal and opposite reaction, there is no force equal in reaction to an attack by Gunnar Soroos. Gunnar Soroos rides for Toms Shoes Cycling Team. Gunnar Soroos is so crazy and awesome that he flips out ALL the time. I heard that Gunnar was eating at a diner. And when some dude dropped a spoon Gunnar Soroos killed the whole town. My friend Oprah Winfrey said that she saw Gunnar Soroos totally uppercut some jerkface just because they opened a window. Gunnar Soroos has two speeds. Fast, and Kill! The main export of a Gunnar Soroos attack is pain. You can control how people can interact with you and your friends.
