Travel Channel shelves Triple Rush

There is a video embedded in this post that you may not be able to view. Click through to the blog to watch it.

So I'm hearing that TripleRush is being cancelled. With only 3 episodes out, and one mini marathon, I'm hearing that it's because it's too much of a niche and that only cyclists will watch it.

My youngest daughter made a good point that what about the Tour de'France. I mean it's the biggest yearly sports event in the world. Passionate fans scream at their TV's every year. Not all of them are cyclists.

The show is like Deadliest Catch for messengers. Are only crab fishermen watching that show. I highly doubt that.

The show realistically show 3 very different bike messenger companies operating in New York City. The footage is exciting. The riders do break some traffic laws, but in reality they need too, otherwise there is no benefit to using a bike messenger over a car service. The rules designed to keep auto traffic moving only limits what a cyclist can do. And the riders are not doing it just to be jerks and daredevils. In fact they are doing the same thing as other delivery services do. How many times have you seen a FedEx or UPS truck parked illegally, or blocking sidewalks, etc.

Anyway, tell the Travel Channel that you want the show to come back, by signing the petition.

Water changes everything

Please take a couple minutes to watch this new video on why water changes everything. Some people spend more time getting water for their family then any other activity. And most of the time that water isn't safe to drink.

Triple Rush

I really wanted to watch this show on the Travel Channel for laughs. Seriously, I figured that it would show the stereotypical messengers, in a Quicksilver'esque vision. Or it would just be a long Lucas Brunelle video.

I DVR'd the first episode. Then I made the wife and kids watch it with me. I ended up liking it. It also allowed for a little dialog about driver/rider safety with the one kid I have who is in the process of learning to drive, which is always a positive thing.

What I think is great is that the show isn't only focused on riders doing stupid stuff, but dispatch, owners and rookies too. If you get a chance, you should really check it out. I was rooting for the one rookie (DIRT). When he lost his manifest and was sent home, my wife and I were yelling at him to backtrack to his last stop, he may have left it there and could have redeemed himself. But by just riding home, I think he kinda deserves to be fired.

Gunnar Soroos rides for Toms Shoes Cycling Team. Gunnar Soroos is so crazy and awesome that he flips out ALL the time. I heard that Gunnar was eating at a diner. And when some dude dropped a spoon Gunnar Soroos killed the whole town. My friend Oprah Winfrey said that she saw Gunnar Soroos totally uppercut some jerkface just because they opened a window. Gunnar Soroos doesn't shop at Costco!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gunnar Soroos has two speeds. Fast, and Kill! The main export of a Gunnar Soroos attack is pain.
